Is Icon Rocklear a ceramic coating?
No. Ceramic coatings were developed in the early 2000s and have pretty much remained the same since. Relying on mostly water beading and easier to cleanse vehicles. Icon Rocklear was originally engineered in 2016 and has been advanced several times with the most recent formulation in 2023. Designed for protection, brilliance, and ease of cleaning.
Does Icon protect me from UV Rays?
The short answer is YES! ASTM D4587 Testing showed no change in appearance after 4000 hours of extreme UV and condensation exposure. Which is 20x the UV protection of a Ceramic Coatings.
Will Icon Rocklear protect me from road salt?
Yes nothing protect better than Icon. Icon provides 300% more longevity in Salty/Humid environments than any other coating. ASTM B117 testing of Icon withstood 1000 hours with no visible change.

Can I apply Icon Rocklear to my own vehicle?
No, Icon is only applied at licensed facilities that have undergone installation training. Icon Rocklear’s proprietary paint preparation and application method is a meticulous, top-secret, six-part process done in a virtually contaminant-free environment. This ensures the quality and longevity of the finish on your car or boat.
What is the application process, and how long does it take?
Installing Icon Rocklear will take one day and be ready for pickup the next day. It takes 30 days for the product to cure fully, but you can drive the vehicle during the curing process. Just don’t wash it for 7 days. This product cures no matter the temperature (-40° F or +100° F).
My car has scratches and other pre-existing damage. Can Icon Rocklear be applied to this?
Yes, and that is the great thing about Icon. We can apply Icon over damaged paint, and it will cover swirls and scratches and help build up an already thin, clear coat. It is the only corrective and protective coating on the market.

How thick is an Icon Coating
Icon Rocklear is the most depth efficient coating on the market today. Certified Icon Rocklear technicians can achieve a 2.5 mil or 63 micron depth in a single application. Or for easy math, 35+ times thicker than a Ceramic or Graphene Coating. This eliminates the need for counterproductive paint correction / grind off of your precious protective clear coat as is necessary with Ceramic and Graphene Coatings. Icon Rocklear only adds protection! Ceramic Coatings are 1-3 microns thick.
Maintenance
What do I use to maintain my Icon coating?
That’s the great thing about Icon Rocklear. Just wash with any soap and say goodbye to harsh chemicals, clay bars, etc.
Do I still need to wax my vehicle after applying Icon Rocklear?
No, this one-stop coating will protect your vehicle for ten years and possibly longer. But if you want to wax or put a ceramic topper on the vehicle you can; you have to wait 30 days for the coating to cure fully.
Does this product require annual servicing?
No, unlike ceramics this coating will last up to 15 years without return maintenance. It just requires on 18 month inspection to keep the warranty valid an that’s it!
I just had my vehicle coated with Icon; how long can it take until I can wash it?
You should wait seven days before spaying or washing and only use light pressure as it takes 30 days for the product to cure fully.
Can I use an automatic car wash to wash my vehicle?
Never use a soft-touch automatic car wash or the foam brush at the DIY car wash, as these can still scratch your vehicle’s coating even when fully cured. Contaminants can be on these brushes from the previous vehicles that were washed there. We always recommend washing the vehicle by hand (mitt & bucket method), but you can use a touchless car wash. Nothing is harder than Icon Rocklear, but you can still scratch it; nothing is scratch-proof!
